Canyon climbers know fitness can be fun.

For those who prefer their exercise with a fair amount of adventure thrown in, the canyons found in Georgia State Parks do not disappoint! It's here that the true benefit of healthy, outdoor exercise is revealed: workouts are a lot more enjoyable when you're surrounded by 360 degrees of spectacular beauty! When the goal is to get to the top of an amazing trail, most people forget to even count the steps! And Georgia boasts a whole handful of these natural wonders just waiting to be conquered!

You may want  to check out Georgia’s new Canyon Climbers Club, which challenges members to scale the height of Amicalola Falls, explore the depths of Providence Canyon, brave the swinging bridge in Tallulah Gorge and face the daunting staircase in Cloudland Canyon. Members who complete these challenges earn a club t-shirt. Sound more exciting than an exercise video?

To join the Canyon Climbers Club, hikers should stop by one of the four participating state park offices and purchase a $10 membership card, call (770) 389-7401 or send an email with your name, address and daytime phone number to: Anissa.Carter@gadnr.org.

Please note: A healthy dose of enthusiasm and sturdy hiking boots are recommended. No time limit applies, so hikers can take as long as they wish to visit all four parks.
